Washington DOE kicks off algae control grant program
The Washington State Legislature set aside dedicated funding to manage problem algae growth in Washington’s freshwater lakes about 2 years ago. The Department of Ecology has now developed their program and has funded it’s first project for the summer of 2008. Most of these focus on toxic bluegreen algae in lakes that have had significant issues for a number of years.
