GCSAA Seminars
The
Problem The
Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
(www.gcsaa.org) plays a key role in providing ongoing
education to those that manage our nations golf properties.
In 1996, the Education Department recognized that lakes
and water features were becoming a much more prominent
feature in golf construction. Superintendents who primarily
had an education in turf grass management or agronomy
were
increasing responsible for managing these water features
as well as their turf grass.
The Solution
Development of Lake and Aquatic Plant Management
Seminar. Terry McNabb was asked by the Association to
develop this seminar and it debuted at the 1996 GCSAA
meeting.
The seminar provided superintendents with the background
they need to understand water quality and aquatic plant
problems and gave a complete overview of the tools available
and how to deploy them. Between the yearly national GCSAA
meeting and the numerous regional offerings, over 2,000
superintendents nationally benefited from this seminar.
